Pillones Waterfalls and Imata Stone Forest
The Pillones waterfalls are one of the most beautiful landscapes in Arequipa. In the middle of the arid desert at more than 4,200 meters above sea level, there is an extensive waterfall of 10 meters in height. Bordering the falls we can find stones of volcanic origin that offer a striking landscape. In the place you can see different species of Flora and Fauna typical of the area.

ITINERARY:

The Imata Stone Forest and Pillones Waterfalls are approximately 150 km away. from the city of Arequipa, in southern Peru. Both places belong to the district of San Juan Antonio de Chuica, province of Caylloma.

The pick-up of passengers will be carried out between 05:30 a.m. until 06:30 a.m. and we will leave in the direction of the Pillones Waterfalls, on whose way we will make a small stop in the Patahuasi area for those who wish to have breakfast.
Here we can see dozens of rocks shaped by the erosion of water and time. You will also see numerous vizcachas (Andean rodent), most of them jumping over the rocks. From this area, you will descend to the waterfall. Once there you can take pictures, enjoy the warm weather, the landscape and the flora of the region.

Continuing our tour, we head to the Imata Stone Forest, where we will find rock formations, a set of natural stone columns that take on the appearance of a mysterious enchanted and petrified Forest. These formations have originated over thousands of years; simulates different silhouettes that resemble prehistoric animals, faces, silhouettes and monsters, among others. Its originality allows those who visit this place to admire the beauty that surrounds it.

Consisting of a set of rocks of ignimbrite material, which is the product of sedimentation expelled from the volcano; It is made up of ashes, lapilli and blocks. The components are welded together and can be called tufitic breccia of volcanic material with grains of various sizes.

Finally, we will return to the city of Arequipa and we will be able to observe some vicuñas and flora of the area along the way.
