UROS AND TAQUILE TOUR

The island of Taquile (Intika in Quechua), in Lake Titicaca, belongs to the district of Amantaní, Puno, Peru. The island is located 45 km from Amantani, the regional capital. It has a population of about 2,200 inhabitants. The main town is located at 3,950 meters above sea level and the highest point of the island reaches 4,050 meters above sea level.

Tour Plan

From 7:10 a.m. to 7:25 a.m. pick up from your respective hotels (downtown), station
Bus or Plaza de Armas for the transfer to the port of Puno where we will board a speedboat
that will take us first to the floating island of the Uros with a visit of 1h 30m approx. where
we will appreciate their way of life and the demonstration of the construction of their Islands and have free time
to explore, take photos and take a short ride on the typical raft of the island. Subsequently
We continue our trip to the Island of Taquile, where the inhabitants still maintain their culture
Alive, this island has a population of approx. of 2000 inhabitants of Quechua and Spanish, the
Families still practice “AYNI” which means reciprocity “TODAY FOR MY TOMORROW FOR YOU”
developing a work in community, the help is mutual between families, its main activity is the
agriculture cultivate; potato, quinoa, goose, etc. and they are also experts in the art of weaving thanks to weaving
that they elaborate, UNESCO has declared them as cultural and intangible heritage of humanity,
one of its emblematic fabrics is the "Chumpi" CALENDAR GIRDLE in which they represent their
main activities and local festivals. The villagers have been directly involved in improving the
tourist activities within the island without losing the ancestral customs, near the square we will have
lunch at a local restaurant based on fresh fish (trout) or vegetable omelette, then
We will descend to the port to take our boat that will take us back to Puno.
