Sillar Route

The ashlar is the main material within the architecture of the White City and is located in the district of Cerro Colorado, here you can see the process of extraction, carving and mega-carving of the ashlar. The Sillar route is currently managed by the Arequipa Sillar Cutters Network, it covers a length of 2000 meters, covering the Añashuayco exploitation, cutters and the Culebrillas unexploited area. Sillar Route

Good morning! The Sillar Route is a 4-hour experience that will take you to discover the origin of sillar, a unique material in Peru used in the construction of Arequipa's historic center. Here is the itinerary:
- 9:15 am: Tour begins at the meeting point. The tour starts with a brief stop at a strategic viewpoint where you can appreciate the volcanoes and the Chilina Valley.

- 9:30 am: Visit to the Añashuayco Quarry, where you can see the sillar extraction process and a large carving of the Church of the Society of Jesus. The quarry is operational, so you can watch the stonemasons at work.

- 10:15 am: Transfer to the Culebrillas Ravine, a small canyon formed by water with walls 15 to 20 meters high.

- - 10:35 am: 20-minute walk through the canyon, where you can see petroglyphs created by the Wari culture over a thousand years ago.

- 12:00 pm: Visit to the Apachetas, stone formations that symbolize gratitude to nature and are considered a good luck charm.

- 12:30 pm: Start of the return trip to Arequipa.

- 1:30 pm: Arrival in downtown Arequipa, near the Plaza de Armas.

The tour includes:
- Tourist transportation

- Entrance fees to the sites (except for the entrance ticket to the sites, Añashuayco and Culebrillas which costs 10 soles)
